⥃A Greeting from Peter ^{[ 2 Peter 1:1–2 ]}

[1] Peter³, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the⁴ strangers scattered⁵ throughout Pontus⁶, Galatia⁷, Cappadocia⁸, Asia⁹, and Bithynia¹⁰, [2] Elect¹¹ according to the foreknowledge¹² of God the Father, through sanctification¹³ of the Spirit, unto¹⁴ obedience and sprinkling¹⁵ of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace¹⁶ unto you, and peace, be¹⁷ multiplied.

⥃A Living Hope

[3] Blessed¹⁸ [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which¹⁹ according to his abundant²⁰ mercy hath²¹ begotten us again unto²² a lively hope by²³ the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [4] To an²⁴ inheritance incorruptible²⁵, and undefiled²⁶, and that fadeth²⁷ not away, reserved²⁸ in heaven for you²⁹, [5] Who are kept³⁰ by the power of God through³¹ faith unto³² salvation ready³³ to be revealed in³⁴ the last time. [6] Wherein ye greatly³⁵ rejoice, though now for³⁶ a season, if³⁷ need be, ye are³⁸ in heaviness through manifold³⁹ temptations: [7] That the trial⁴⁰ of your faith, being much more precious⁴¹ than of gold that⁴² perisheth, though it be tried⁴³ with fire, might⁴⁴ be found unto praise and honour and glory at⁴⁵ the appearing of Jesus Christ: [8] Whom having⁴⁶ not seen, ye love⁴⁷; in whom, though now ye see [him] not, yet believing⁴⁸, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable⁴⁹ and full⁵⁰ of glory: [9] Receiving the end of your faith, [even] the salvation of [your] souls.⁵¹ [10] Of which⁵² salvation the prophets have enquired and⁵³ searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace⁵⁴ [that should come] unto you: [11] Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit⁵⁵ of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings⁵⁶ of Christ, and the glory⁵⁷ that should follow. [12] Unto whom it⁵⁸ was revealed, that not⁵⁹ unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have⁶⁰ preached the gospel unto you with⁶¹ the Holy Ghost sent⁶² down from heaven; which things⁶³ the angels desire to look into.

⥃A Call to Holiness ^{[ Hebrews 12:14–17 ]}

[13] Wherefore gird⁶⁴ up the loins of your mind, be sober⁶⁵, and hope⁶⁶ to the end⁶⁷ for the grace⁶⁸ that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; [14] As obedient⁶⁹ children, not⁷⁰ fashionin⁷¹g yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: [15] But as⁷² he which hath called you is⁷³ holy, so⁷⁴ be ye holy in⁷⁵ all manner of conversation; [16] Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.⁷⁶ [17] And if ye call⁷⁷ on the Father, who⁷⁸ without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass⁷⁹ the time of your sojourning [here] in fear⁸⁰: [18] Forasmuch as ye⁸¹ know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible⁸² things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain⁸³ conversation [received⁸⁴] by tradition from your fathers; [19] But with⁸⁵ the precious blood of Christ, as⁸⁶ of a lamb without blemish and without spot: [20] Who verily⁸⁷ was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but⁸⁸ was manifest in⁸⁹ these last times for you, [21] Who by⁹⁰ him do believe in God, that raised⁹¹ him up from the dead, and gave⁹² him glory; that your⁹³ faith and hope might be in God.

⥃The Enduring Word ^{[ Isaiah 40:6–8 ]}

[22] Seeing ye have⁹⁴ purified your souls in⁹⁵ obeying the truth through⁹⁶ the Spirit unto⁹⁷ unfeigned love of the brethren, [see⁹⁸ that ye] love one another with a pure⁹⁹ heart fervently: [23] Being born¹⁰⁰ again, not¹⁰¹ of corruptible seed, but¹⁰² of incorruptible, by¹⁰³ the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. [24] For¹⁰⁴ all flesh¹⁰⁵ [is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: [25] But the word¹⁰⁶ of the Lord endureth for ever. And this¹⁰⁷ is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
