⥃Paul’s Greeting to Timothy ^{[ 2 Timothy 1:1–2 ]}

[1] Paul, an apostle³ of Jesus Christ by⁴ the commandment of God⁵ our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Chris⁶t, [which is] our hope; [2] Unto Timothy⁷, [my⁸] own son in the faith: Grace⁹, mercy, [and] peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

⥃Correcting False Teachers ^{[ Titus 1:10–16 ]}

[3] As I besought thee to abide still at¹⁰ Ephesus, when¹¹ I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge¹² some that they teach no other doctrine, [4] Neither give heed to¹³ fables and endless¹⁴ genealogies, which minister questions¹⁵, rather than godly¹⁶ edifying which is in faith: [so do]. [5] Now the end¹⁷ of the commandment is charity¹⁸ out of a pure¹⁹ heart, and [of] a good²⁰ conscience, and [of] faith²¹ unfeigned: [6] From which some having swerved²² have turned²³ aside unto vain jangling; [7] Desiring to²⁴ be teachers of the law; understanding²⁵ neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. [8] But we know that the law²⁶ [is] good, if a man use it lawfully²⁷; [9] Knowing this, that the law²⁸ is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless²⁹ and disobedient³⁰, for the ungodly³¹ and for sinners, for unholy and profane³², for murderers³³ of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers³⁴, [10] For whoremongers³⁵, for them that defile³⁶ themselves with mankind, for menstealers³⁷, for liars³⁸, for perjured³⁹ persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary⁴⁰ to sound doctrine; [11] According⁴¹ to the glorious⁴² gospel of the blessed⁴³ God, which⁴⁴ was committed to my trust.

⥃God’s Grace to Paul

[12] And I thank⁴⁵ Christ Jesus our Lord, who⁴⁶ hath enabled me, for that he counted⁴⁷ me faithful, putting⁴⁸ me into the ministry; [13] Who was⁴⁹ before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but⁵⁰ I obtained mercy, because⁵¹ I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief. [14] And the grace⁵² of our Lord was exceeding⁵³ abundant with⁵⁴ faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. [15] This [is] a faithful⁵⁵ saying, and worthy⁵⁶ of all acceptation, that⁵⁷ Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom⁵⁸ I am chief. [16] Howbeit for this⁵⁹ cause I obtained⁶⁰ mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all⁶¹ longsuffering, for a⁶² pattern to them which should hereafter believe⁶³ on him to life everlasting. [17] Now unto the King⁶⁴ eternal, immortal, invisible⁶⁵, the only⁶⁶ wise God, [be⁶⁷] honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen⁶⁸. [18] This charge⁶⁹ I commit unto thee, son⁷⁰ Timothy, according⁷¹ to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest⁷² war a good warfare; [19] Holding⁷³ faith, and a good conscience; which⁷⁴ some having put away concerning⁷⁵ faith have made⁷⁶ shipwreck: [20] Of whom is Hymeneus⁷⁷ and Alexander⁷⁸; whom I have⁷⁹ delivered unto Satan, that⁸⁰ they may learn not to blaspheme⁸¹.
