⥃The Man of Lawlessness

[1] Now we2 beseech you, brethren, by the3 coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and [by4] our gathering together unto him, [2] That ye be not soon shaken5 in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit6, nor by word, nor by letter7 as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. [3] Let no man8 deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except9 there come a falling away first, and that man10 of sin be revealed, the son11 of perdition; [4] Who opposeth and exalteth12 himself above all that is called13 God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth14 in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. [5] Remember15 ye not, that, when16 I was yet with you, I told you these things? [6] And now ye know what withholdeth17 that he might be revealed18 in his time. [7] For the mystery19 of iniquity doth20 already work: only he who21 now letteth [will let], until he be taken out of the way. [8] And then shall that22 Wicked be revealed, whom23 the Lord shall consume with the spirit24 of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness25 of his coming: [9] [Even him], whose coming is26 after the working of Satan with all power and signs27 and lying wonders, [10] And with all deceivableness28 of unrighteousness in them29 that perish; because they received30 not the love of the truth, that they31 might be saved. [11] And for32 this cause God33 shall send them strong delusion, that34 they should believe a lie: [12] That they35 all might be damned who believed not the truth, but36 had pleasure in unrighteousness.

⥃Stand Firm

[13] But we37 are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved38 of the Lord, because God hath from39 the beginning chosen40 you to salvation through41 sanctification of the Spirit and belief42 of the truth: [14] Whereunto he called43 you by our gospel44, to45 the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. [15] Therefore, brethren, stand46 fast, and hold47 the traditions48 which ye have been taught, whether49 by word, or our epistle. [16] Now our Lord50 Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which51 hath loved us, and hath given [us] everlasting52 consolation and good53 hope through54 grace, [17] Comfort55 your hearts, and stablish56 you in57 every good word and work.
