Job: My Redeemer Lives

[1] Then Job answered and said, [2] How long2 will ye vex3 my soul, and break me4 in pieces with words? [3] These ten times5 have ye reproached6 me: ye are not ashamed [that] ye make yourselves strange to me7. [4] And be it indeed [that] I have erred8, mine9 error remaineth with myself. [5] If indeed ye will magnify10 [yourselves] against me, and plead11 against me my reproach: [6] Know now that God12 hath overthrown me, and hath compassed13 me with his net. [7] Behold, I cry14 out of wrong15, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but [there is] no judgment16. [8] He hath fenced17 up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set18 darkness in my paths. [9] He hath stripped19 me of my glory, and taken the crown [from] my head. [10] He hath destroyed20 me on every side, and I am gone21: and mine hope22 hath he removed like a tree. [11] He hath also kindled23 his wrath against me, and he counteth24 me unto him as [one of] his enemies. [12] His25 troops come together, and raise26 up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle. [13] He hath put my brethren27 far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged28 from me. [14] My kinsfolk29 have failed, and my familiar30 friends have forgotten me. [15] They that dwell31 in mine house, and my maids, count me32 for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight. [16] I called my servant33, and he gave [me] no answer; I intreated him with my mouth. [17] My breath34 is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children’s [sake] of mine own body35. [18] Yea36, young children37 despised me; I arose, and they spake against me. [19] All my inward friends38 abhorred me: and they whom39 I loved are turned against me. [20] My bone40 cleaveth to my skin and to41 my flesh, and I am42 escaped with the skin of my teeth. [21] Have pity43 upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand44 of God hath touched me. [22] Why do ye persecute45 me as God, and are not46 satisfied with my flesh? [23] Oh47 that my words48 were now written! oh that they were49 printed in a book! [24] That they were graven50 with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever! [25] For I know51 [that] my redeemer liveth, and [that] he shall52 stand at the latter [day] upon the earth: [26] And [though53] after my skin [worms] destroy this [body], yet in my flesh54 shall I see God: [27] Whom I shall55 see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another56; [though] my reins be consumed within me57. [28] But ye should say, Why58 persecute we him, seeing59 the root of the matter is found in me60? [29] Be ye afraid61 of the sword: for wrath [bringeth] the punishments of the sword, that ye may62 know [there is] a judgment.
