⥃The Destroyers of Jerusalem Destroyed
[1] Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.2 [2] For I will gather3 all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city4 shall be taken, and the houses5 rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue6 of the people shall not7 be cut off from the city. [3] Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as8 when he fought in the day of battle.9
[4] [¶]And his feet10 shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which [is] before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave11 in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, [and there shall be] a very12 great valley; and half of the13 mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. [5] And ye shall flee [to] the valley of the mountains14; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled15 from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the Lord16 my God shall come, [and] all17 the saints with thee. [6] And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the18 light shall not19 be clear20, [nor] dark21: [7] But it shall be one day22 which23 shall be known to the Lord, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, [that24] at evening time it shall be light. [8] And it shall be in that day, [that] living25 waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former26 sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer27 and in winter shall it be. [9] And the Lord28 shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord29, and30 his name one. [10] All the land31 shall be turned32 as a plain from Geba33 to Rimmon34 south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited35 in her place, from Benjamin’s36 gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and [from] the tower of Hananeel unto the king’s winepresses. [11] And [men] shall dwell in it, and there37 shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited38.
[12] [¶]And this shall be the plague wherewith39 the Lord will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh40 shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. [13] And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] a great41 tumult from the Lord shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour. [14] And Judah also shall42 fight at43 Jerusalem; and the44 wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance. [15] And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague.45
⥃All Nations Will Worship the King [ Leviticus 23:33–44 † Nehemiah 8:13–18 ]
[16] And it shall come to pass, [that] every46 one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King47, the Lord of hosts, and to48 keep the feast of tabernacles. [17] And it shall be, [that49] whoso will not come up of [all50] the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even51 upon them shall be no rain. [18] And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that [have] no52 [rain]; there shall be the plague, wherewith the Lord will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. [19] This shall be the punishment53 of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
[20] [¶]In that day shall there54 be upon the bells55 of the horses,

Eph 2:19-22; 1Tim 3:15; Heb 3:6; 1Pet 4:17; The predictions contained in this chapter seem to relate to events which gradually extend from the death of Christ to the glorious days of the millennium - the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans, whose armies were composed of many nations, which was "the day of the Lord," in which he came "to destroy those who would not that he should reign over them," (Zech 14:1-2); the subversion of the Roman empire, after being the executioners of the Divine vengeance on the Jews, by God's stirring up the barbarous nations to invade them (Zech 14:3); the effusion of Divine knowledge from Jerusalem, by the promulgation of the Gospel (Zech 14:4-9); the rebuilding and replenishing of Jerusalem (Zech 14:10-11); the destruction of the nations who shall fight against her (Zech 14:12-15); the conversion of the remnant of those nations to the Lord (Zech 14:16-19); and the peace and purity of the universal church in the latter days (Zech 14:20-21). ↩
