⥃I Cry Out before You
A Song [or] Psalm for the sons of Korah, to the chief Musician upon Mahalath Leannoth, Maschil2 of Heman3 the Ezrahite.
[1] O Lord4 God of my salvation, I have5 cried day [and] night before thee: [2] Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;6 [3] For my soul7 is full of troubles: and my life8 draweth nigh unto the grave. [4] I am counted9 with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man10 [that hath] no strength: [5] Free11 among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom12 thou rememberest no more: and they are cut13 off from thy hand14. [6] Thou hast laid me in the lowest15 pit, in darkness16, in the deeps17. [7] Thy wrath18 lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted [me] with19 all thy waves. Selah. [8] Thou hast put20 away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made21 me an abomination unto them: [I am] shut22 up, and I cannot come forth. [9] Mine23 eye mourneth by reason of affliction: Lord, I have called24 daily upon thee, I have stretched25 out my hands unto thee. [10] Wilt thou26 shew wonders to the dead? shall27 the dead arise [and] praise thee? Selah. [11] Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? [or] thy faithfulness in destruction28? [12] Shall thy wonders be known in the dark29? and thy righteousness in the land30 of forgetfulness? [13] But unto thee have I cried, O Lord; and in31 the morning shall my prayer prevent thee32. [14] Lord33, why castest thou off my soul? [why] hidest34 thou thy face from me? [15] I [am] afflicted35 and ready to die from [my] youth up: [while36] I suffer thy terrors I am distracted. [16] Thy fierce37 wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me38 off. [17] They39 came round about me daily40 like water; they compassed me about together. [18] Lover41 and friend hast thou put far from me, [and] mine acquaintance42 into darkness.
