(KJV) Hebrews 6¹

⥃A Call to Maturity

[1] Therefore leaving² the principles of the doctrine³ of Christ, let⁴ us go on unto perfection; not laying⁵ again the foundation of repentance⁶ from dead⁷ works, and of faith⁸ toward God, [2] Of the doctrine⁹ of baptisms, and of laying¹⁰ on of hands, and of resurrection¹¹ of the dead, and of eternal¹² judgment. [3] And this will we do, if¹³ God permit. [4] For [it is¹⁴] impossible for those who were once¹⁵ enlightened, and have¹⁶ tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers¹⁷ of the Holy Ghost, [5] And have tasted¹⁸ the good word of God, and the powers¹⁹ of the world to come, [6] If they shall fall away, to renew²⁰ them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify²¹ to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put [him] to an open²² shame. [7] For the earth²³ which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by²⁴ whom it is dressed, receiveth²⁵ blessing from God: [8] But that which beareth²⁶ thorns and briers [is] rejected, and [is] nigh unto cursing; whose²⁷ end [is] to be burned. [9] But, beloved²⁸, we are persuaded better things²⁹ of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. [10] For³⁰ God³¹ [is] not unrighteous to forget³² your work³³ and labour of love, which³⁴ ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. [11] And we desire³⁵ that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the³⁶ full assurance of hope³⁷ unto³⁸ the end: [12] That ye³⁹ be not slothful, but⁴⁰ followers of them who through faith⁴¹ and patience inherit⁴² the promises.

⥃God’s Unchangeable Promise

[13] For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware⁴³ by himself, [14] Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying⁴⁴ I will multiply thee. [15] And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.⁴⁵ [16] For men verily swear⁴⁶ by the greater: and an oath⁴⁷ for confirmation [is] to them an end of all strife. [17] Wherein God, willing more⁴⁸ abundantly to shew unto the heirs⁴⁹ of promise the immutability⁵⁰ of his counsel, confirmed [it⁵¹] by an oath: [18] That by two⁵² immutable things, in which [it was] impossible⁵³ for God to lie, we might⁵⁴ have a strong consolation, who⁵⁵ have fled for refuge to lay⁵⁶ hold upon the hope⁵⁷ set⁵⁸ before us: [19] Which [hope] we have as an⁵⁹ anchor of the soul, both⁶⁰ sure and stedfast, and which entereth⁶¹ into that within the veil; [20] Whither the for⁶²erunner⁶³ is for us entered, [even] Jesus, made an⁶⁴ high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
