(KJV) Hebrews 8¹

⥃Christ’s Eternal Priesthood

[1] Now of the things which we have spoken [this is] the sum²: We have³ such an high priest, who⁴ is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty⁵ in the heavens; [2] A minister⁶ of the sanctuary⁷, and of the true⁸ tabernacle, which⁹ the Lord pitched, and not man. [3] For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore [it is] of necessity that this man have¹⁰ somewhat also to offer.¹¹ [4] For if he were on earth, he should¹² not be a priest, seeing that there are priests¹³ that offer gifts¹⁴ according to the law: [5] Who serve unto¹⁵ the example¹⁶ and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See¹⁷, saith he, [that] thou make all things according to the pattern¹⁸ shewed to thee in the mount.

⥃The New Covenant ^{[ Jeremiah 31:26–40 ]}

[6] But now hath he obtained¹⁹ a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator²⁰ of a better covenant²¹, which was established²² upon²³ better promises. [7] For if that first [covenant] had²⁴ been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. [8] For finding fault with them, he saith²⁵, Behold, the days²⁶ come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new²⁷ covenant²⁸ with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: [9] Not according to the covenant²⁹ that I made with their fathers in the day when I took³⁰ them by the hand to lead³¹ them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued³² not in my covenant, and I regarded³³ them not, saith the Lord. [10] For this [is³⁴] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put³⁵ my laws in³⁶to their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be³⁷ to them a God, and they shall³⁸ be to me a people: [11] And they shall³⁹ not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the⁴⁰ Lord: for all⁴¹ shall know me, from⁴² the least to the greatest. [12] For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.⁴³ [13] In that he saith, A new⁴⁴ [covenant], he hath⁴⁵ made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old [is] ready⁴⁶ to vanish away.
