⥃The Lord of the Sabbath ^{[ 1 Samuel 21:1–7 † Matthew 12:1–8 † Mark 2:23–28 ]}

[1] And it came to pass on the second² sabbath after the first, that³ he went through the corn fields; and his⁴ disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing [them] in [their] hands. [2] And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why⁵ do ye that which is not⁶ lawful to do on the sabbath days? [3] And Jesus answering them said, Have⁷ ye not read so much as this, what⁸ David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him; [4] How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which⁹ it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone? [5] And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.¹⁰

⥃Jesus Heals on the Sabbath ^{[ Matthew 12:9–14 † Mark 3:1–6 ]}

[6] And it came¹¹ to pass also on anothe¹²r sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there¹³ was a man whose right hand was withered. [7] And the scribes and Pharisees watched¹⁴ him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that¹⁵ they might find an accusation against him. [8] But¹⁶ he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise¹⁷ up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth. [9] Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it¹⁸ lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save¹⁹ life, or to destroy [it]? [10] And looking²⁰ round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch²¹ forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other. [11] And they²² were filled with madness; and communed²³ one with another what they might do to Jesus.

⥃The Twelve Apostles ^{[ Matthew 10:1–4 † Mark 3:13–19 ]}

[12] And it came to pass in those days, that²⁴ he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued²⁵ all night in prayer to God.

[13] And when²⁶ it was day, he called [unto him] his disciples: and of them he chose twelve²⁷, whom also he named apostles²⁸; [14] Simon²⁹, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew³⁰ his brother, James³¹ and John, Philip³² and Bartholomew, [15] Matthew³³ and Thomas³⁴, James³⁵ the [son] of Alpheus³⁶, and Simon³⁷ called Zelotes, [16] And Judas [the³⁸ brother] of James, and Judas Iscariot³⁹, which also was the traitor.

⥃Jesus Heals the Multitudes ^{[ Matthew 4:23–25 † Mark 3:7–12 ]}

[17] And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a⁴⁰ great multitude of people out of all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the sea⁴¹ coast of Tyre and Sidon, which⁴² came to hear him, and to be⁴³ healed of their diseases; [18] And they that were vexed⁴⁴ with unclean spirits: and they were healed. [19] And the whole multitude sought⁴⁵ to touch him: for⁴⁶ there went virtue out of him, and healed [them] all.

⥃The Beatitudes ^{[ Psalms 1:1–6 † Matthew 5:3–12 ]}

[20] And he lifted⁴⁷ up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed⁴⁸ [be ye] poor: for⁴⁹ yours is the kingdom of God. [21] Blessed [are ye] that hunger⁵⁰ now: for ye shall be⁵¹ filled. Blessed [are ye] that weep⁵² now: for ye shall laugh⁵³. [22] Blessed are ye, when men⁵⁴ shall hate you, and when they shall separate⁵⁵ you [from their company], and shall reproach [you], and cast out your name as evil, for⁵⁶ the Son of man’s sake. [23] Rejoice⁵⁷ ye in that day, and leap⁵⁸ for joy: for, behold, your⁵⁹ reward [is] great in heaven: for in⁶⁰ the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

⥃Woes to the Satisfied ^{[ Amos 6:1–7 ]}

[24] But woe⁶¹ unto you that are rich! for⁶² ye have received your consolation. [25] Woe unto you that are full⁶³! for ye shall hunger⁶⁴. Woe unto you that laugh⁶⁵ now! for ye shall mourn⁶⁶ and weep. [26] Woe unto you, when⁶⁷ all men shall speak well of you! for so⁶⁸ did their fathers to the false prophets.

⥃Love Your Enemies ^{[ Matthew 5:38–48 ]}

[27] But I say unto⁶⁹ you which hear, Love⁷⁰ your enemies, do⁷¹ good to them which hate you, [28] Bless⁷² them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully⁷³ use you. [29] And unto⁷⁴ him that smiteth⁷⁵ thee on the [one] cheek offer also the other; and him⁷⁶ that taketh away thy cloke forbid not [to take thy] coat also. [30] Give⁷⁷ to every man that asketh of thee; and⁷⁸ of him that taketh away thy goods ask [them] not again. [31] And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.⁷⁹ [32] For if⁸⁰ ye love them which love you, what⁸¹ thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. [33] And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. [34] And if ye lend [to them] of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.⁸² [35] But love⁸³ ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye⁸⁴ shall be the children of the Highest: for⁸⁵ he is kind unto the unthankful and [to] the evil. [36] Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.⁸⁶

⥃Judging Others ^{[ Matthew 7:1–6 † Romans 14:1–12 ]}

[37] Judge⁸⁷ not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive⁸⁸, and ye shall be forgiven: [38] Give, and it⁸⁹ shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom⁹⁰. For with⁹¹ the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. [39] And he spake a parable unto them, Can⁹² the blind lead the blind? shall⁹³ they not both fall into the ditch? [40] The disciple⁹⁴ is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master⁹⁵. [41] And why⁹⁶ beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but⁹⁷ perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? [42] Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite⁹⁸, cast⁹⁹ out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see¹⁰⁰ clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.

⥃A Tree and Its Fruit ^{[ Matthew 7:15–23 † Matthew 12:33–37 ]}

[43] For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.¹⁰¹ [44] For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of¹⁰² thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes¹⁰³. [45] A good man¹⁰⁴ out of the good treasure¹⁰⁵ of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an¹⁰⁶ evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth for¹⁰⁷th that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

⥃The House on the Rock ^{[ Matthew 7:24–27 ]}

[46] And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?¹⁰⁸ [47] Whosoever cometh¹⁰⁹ to me, and heareth¹¹⁰ my sayings, and doeth¹¹¹ them, I will shew you to whom he is like: [48] He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid¹¹² the foundation on a rock¹¹³: and when the flood¹¹⁴ arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could¹¹⁵ not shake it: for¹¹⁶ it was founded upon a rock. [49] But he that heareth¹¹⁷, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against¹¹⁸ which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately¹¹⁹ it fell; and the ruin¹²⁰ of that house was great.
