⥃Imitators of God
[1] Be ye therefore followers2 of God, as3 dear children; [2] And walk4 in love, as5 Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice6 to God for a7 sweetsmelling savour. [3] But fornication8, and all uncleanness, or covetousness9, let it not be once named10 among you, as11 becometh saints; [4] Neither filthiness12, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient13: but14 rather giving of thanks. [5] For this15 ye know, that no16 whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is17 an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [6] Let no18 man deceive you with vain19 words: for because of these things cometh20 the wrath of God upon the children21 of disobedience22. [7] Be not ye therefore partakers with them.23
⥃Children of Light
[8] For ye were24 sometimes darkness, but25 now [are ye] light in the Lord: walk26 as children of light: [9] (For the fruit27 of the Spirit [is] in all goodness28 and righteousness29 and truth30;) [10] Proving31 what is acceptable32 unto the Lord. [11] And have no33 fellowship with the unfruitful34 works35 of darkness, but36 rather reprove [them]. [12] For it37 is a shame even to speak of those thin38gs which are done of them in secret. [13] But all things that are reproved39 are made manifest by the light: for40 whatsoever doth make manifest is light. [14] Whe41refore he saith, Awake42 thou that sleepest, and arise43 from the dead, and Christ44 shall give thee light. [15] See45 then that ye walk46 circumspectly, not47 as fools, but as wise, [16] Redeeming48 the time, because the days49 are evil. [17] Wherefore be50 ye not unwise, but understanding51 what the will of the Lord [is]. [18] And be not52 drunk with wine, wherein is excess53; but54 be filled with the Spirit; [19] Speaking to yourselves55 in psalms56 and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making57 melody in your heart to the Lord; [20] Giving thanks58 always for all thin59gs unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
⥃Wives and Husbands [ Song 1:1–17 † 1 Peter 3:1–7 ]
[21] Submittin60g61 yourselves one to another in the fear of God. [22] Wives, submit62 yourselves unto your own husbands, as63 unto the Lord. [23] For the husband64 is the head of the wife, even65 as Christ is the66 head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. [24] Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in67 every thing. [25] Husbands, love68 your wives, even as Christ also loved69 the church, and gave himself for it; [26] That he70 might sanctify and cleanse it with71 the washing of water by72 the word, [27] That he73 might present it to himself a glorious74 church, not75 having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but76 that it should be holy and without blemish. [28] So ought men to love their wives as77 their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. [29] For no man ever yet hated78 his own flesh; but nourisheth79 and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: [30] For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.80 [31] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.81 [32] This is a great82 mystery: but I speak83 concerning Christ and the church. [33] Nevertheless let84 every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [see] that she reverence85 [her] husband.
