(KJV) Philippians 41

⥃Rejoice in the Lord
[1] Therefore2, my brethren dearly beloved and3 longed for, my joy4 and crown, so5 stand fast in the Lord, [my] dearly beloved. [2] I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that6 they be of the same mind in the Lord. [3] And I7 intreat thee also, true8 yokefellow, help9 those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and [with] other my fellowlabourers, whose10 names [are] in the book of life. [4] Rejoice11 in the Lord alway12: [and] again13 I say, Rejoice. [5] Let your14 moderation be known unto all men. The15 Lord [is] at hand. [6] Be careful16 for nothin17g; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving18 let your requests be made known19 unto God. [7] And the peace20 of God, which passeth21 all understanding, shall22 keep your hearts and minds through23 Christ Jesus. [8] Finally24, brethren, whatsoever25 things are true26, whatsoever things [are] honest27, whatsoever things [are] just28, whatsoever things [are] pure29, whatsoever things [are] lovely30, whatsoever things [are] of31 good report; if [there be] any virtue32, and if [there be] any praise33, think34 on these things. [9] Those things, which35 ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do36: and the God37 of peace shall be with38 you.
⥃The Generosity of the Philippians [ 2 Corinthians 8:1–15 ]
[10] But I39 rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your40 care of me hath flourished41 again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked42 opportunity. [11] Not that I speak in respect43 of want: for I have44 learned, in whatsoever state I am, [therewith] to be content. [12] I know both how to be45 abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am46 instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. [13] I can47 do all things through48 Christ which strengtheneth me. [14] Notwithstanding ye have49 well done, that ye did50 communicate with my affliction. [15] Now ye Philippians know also, that i51n the52 beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. [16] For even in53 Thessalonica ye sent once54 and again unto my necessity. [17] Not because55 I desire a gift: but I desire fruit56 that may abound to57 your account. [18] But I have all58, and abound59: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus60 the things [which were sent] from you, an61 odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable62, wellpleasing to God. [19] But my God63 shall supply64 all your need according65 to his riches in glory66 by Christ Jesus. [20] Now unto67 God and our Father [be] glory for ever and ever. Amen68.
⥃Final Greetings [ Ephesians 6:21–24 † 2 Timothy 4:19–22 ]
[21] Salute69 every saint70 in Christ Jesus. The71 brethren which are with me greet you. [22] All the72 saints salute you, chiefly they73 that are of Cesar’s74 household. [23] The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen.

The cruel, worthless, and diabolical Nero was at this time emperor of Rome; but it is not improbable that the empress Poppaea was favourably inclined to Christianity, as Josephus relates that Θεοσεβης G2318, γαρ G1063, ην G2258, "she was a worshipper of the true God." Jerome states (in Philemon) that St. Paul had converted many in Cesar's family; for "being by the emperor cast into prison, he became more known to his family, and turned the house of Christ's persecutor into a church." ↩
