⥃You Showed Favor to Your Land
To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.
[1] Lord2, thou hast been favourable unto3 thy land: thou hast4 brought back the captivity of Jacob. [2] Thou hast forgiven5 the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah. [3] Thou hast taken6 away all thy wrath: thou hast turned7 [thyself] from the fierceness of thine anger. [4] Turn us8, O God9 of our salvation, and cause10 thine anger toward us to cease. [5] Wilt thou be angry11 with us for ever? wilt thou draw12 out thine anger to all generations? [6] Wilt thou not revive13 us again: that thy people14 may rejoice in thee? [7] Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.15 [8] I will hear16 what God the Lord will speak: for he17 will speak peace unto his18 people, and to his saints: but19 let them not turn again to folly20. [9] Surely21 his salvation [is] nigh them that fear him; that glory22 may dwell in our land. [10] Mercy23 and truth are met together; righteousness24 and peace have kissed [each other]. [11] Truth25 shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness26 shall look down from heaven. [12] Yea, the Lord27 shall give [that which is] good; and our land28 shall yield her increase. [13] Righteousness29 shall go before him; and shall set30 [us] in the way of his steps.

The Israelites were not restored from their captivity all at once. A few returned with Zerubbabel, some more with Ezra and Nehemiah; but a great number still remained in Babylonia, Media, Assyria, etc.; and therefore the Psalmist prays for a complete restoration.
