[1] The book of the generation³ of Jesus Christ, the son of David⁴, the son of Abraham⁵. [2] Abraham⁶ begat Isaac; and Isaac begat⁷ Jacob; and Jacob begat⁸ Judas and his brethren; [3] And Judas⁹ begat Phares and Zara of Thamar¹⁰; and Phares¹¹ begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram¹²; [4] And Aram begat Aminadab¹³; and Aminadab begat Naasson¹⁴; and Naasson begat Salmon; [5] And Salmon¹⁵ begat Booz of Rachab¹⁶; and Booz¹⁷ begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat¹⁸ Jesse; [6] And Jesse¹⁹ begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon²⁰ of her²¹ [that had been the wife] of Urias²²; [7] And Solomon begat Roboam²³; and Roboam begat Abia²⁴; and Abia begat Asa²⁵; [8] And Asa begat Josaphat²⁶; and Josaphat begat Joram²⁷; and Joram begat Ozias²⁸; [9] And Ozias begat Joatham²⁹; and Joatham begat Achaz³⁰; and Achaz begat Ezekias³¹; [10] And Ezekias begat Manasses³²; and Manasses begat Amon³³; and Amon begat Josias³⁴; [11] And Josias³⁵ begat Jechonias³⁶ and his brethren, about³⁷ the time they were carried away to Babylon: [12] And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias³⁸ begat Salathiel; and³⁹ Salathiel begat Zorobabel; [13] And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor; [14] And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud; [15] And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob; [16] And Jacob begat Joseph⁴⁰ the husband of Mary, of who⁴¹m⁴² was born Jesus, who is called Christ. [17] So all the generations from Abraham to David [are] fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon [are] fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ [are] fourteen generations.

⥃The Birth of Jesus ^{[ Isaiah 7:10–16 † Luke 2:1–7 ]}

[18] Now the birth⁴³ of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the⁴⁴ Holy Ghost. [19] Then Joseph her husband⁴⁵, being a just⁴⁶ [man], and not willing to make her a public⁴⁷k example, was⁴⁸ minded to put her away privily. [20] But while⁴⁹ he thought on these things, behold, the angel⁵⁰ of the Lord appeared unto him in⁵¹ a dream, saying, Joseph⁵², thou son of David, fear not⁵³ to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that⁵⁴ which is conceived⁵⁵ in her is of the Holy Ghost. [21] And she⁵⁶ shall bring forth a son, and thou⁵⁷ shalt call his name JESUS⁵⁸: for⁵⁹ he shall save his people from their sins. [22] Now all this was done, that⁶⁰ it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, [23] Behold, a virgin⁶¹ shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name⁶² Emmanuel⁶³, which being interpreted is, God⁶⁴ with us. [24] Then Joseph being raised from sleep did⁶⁵ as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: [25] And knew her not till she⁶⁶ had brought forth her firstborn son: and he⁶⁷ called his name JESUS.
