⥃Children of God

[1] Behold, what² manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that³ we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world⁴ knoweth us not, because it knew him not. [2] Beloved, now are we the⁵ sons of God, and it⁶ doth not yet appear what⁷ we shall be: but we know that, when⁸ he shall appear, we shall be like him; for⁹ we shall see him as he is. [3] And every¹⁰ man that hath this hope in him purifieth¹¹ himself, even¹² as he is pure. [4] Whosoever committeth¹³ sin transgresseth¹⁴ also the law: for¹⁵ sin is the transgression of the law. [5] And ye know that he¹⁶ was manifested to¹⁷ take away our sin¹⁸s; and in him is no sin. [6] Whosoever abideth¹⁹ in him sinneth not: whosoever²⁰ sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. [7] Little children, let²¹ no man deceive you: he that²² doeth righteousness is righteous, even²³ as he is righteous. [8] He that²⁴ committeth sin is of the devil; for²⁵ the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose²⁶ the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. [9] Whosoever is born²⁷ of God doth not commit sin; for²⁸ his seed remaineth in him: and he²⁹ cannot sin, because he is born of God. [10] In this the children of God³⁰ are manifest, and³¹ the children of the devil: whosoever³² doeth not righteousness is³³ not of God, neither³⁴ he that loveth not his brother.

⥃Love One Another ^{[ John 13:31–35 † Romans 12:9–13 ]}

[11] For this³⁵ is the message³⁶ that ye heard from the beginning, that we³⁷ should love one another. [12] Not as³⁸ Cain, [who] was of³⁹ that wicked one, and⁴⁰ slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his⁴¹ brother’s righteous. [13] Marvel not⁴², my brethren, if⁴³ the world hate you. [14] We know⁴⁴ that we have⁴⁵ passed from death unto life, because⁴⁶ we love the brethren. He that loveth⁴⁷ not [his] brother abideth in death. [15] Whosoever hateth⁴⁸ his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath⁴⁹ eternal life abiding in him. [16] Hereby perceive⁵⁰ we the love [of God], because he laid down his life for us: and we⁵¹ ought to lay down [our] lives for the brethren. [17] But whoso⁵² hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth⁵³ up his bowels [of compassion] from him, how⁵⁴ dwelleth the love of God in him? [18] My⁵⁵ little children, let⁵⁶ us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. [19] And hereby⁵⁷ we know that we are of the truth, and shall⁵⁸ assure⁵⁹ our hearts before him. [20] For if⁶⁰ our heart condemn us, God⁶¹ is greater than our heart, and⁶² knoweth all things. [21] Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, [then] have we confidence toward God.⁶³ [22] And whatsoever⁶⁴ we ask, we receive of him, because⁶⁵ we keep his commandments, and do⁶⁶ those things that are pleasing in his sight. [23] And this is his commandment⁶⁷, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love⁶⁸ one another, as he gave us commandment. [24] And he that⁶⁹ keepeth his commandments dwe⁷⁰lleth⁷¹ in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
