⥃Trust in the LORD with All Your Heart

[1] My son, forget2 not my law; but let3 thine heart keep my commandments: [2] For length4 of days, and long life5, and peace6, shall they add to thee. [3] Let not mercy7 and truth forsake thee: bind8 them about thy neck; write9 them upon the table of thine heart: [4] So shalt10 thou find favour and good understanding11 in the sight of God and man.

[5] [¶]Trust12 in the Lord with all thine heart; and13 lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In14 all thy ways acknowledge him, and15 he shall direct thy paths.

[7] Be16 not wise in thine own eyes: fear17 the Lord, and depart from evil. [8] It shall18 be health19 to thy20 navel, and marrow21 to thy bones. [9] Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:22 [10] So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.23

[11] [¶]My24 son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither25 be weary of his correction: [12] For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son [in whom] he delighteth.26

⥃The Blessings of Wisdom

[13] Happy [is] the27 man [that] findeth wisdom, and the man [that] getteth28 understanding. [14] For the merchandise of it [is] better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.29 [15] She [is] more30 precious than rubies: and all31 the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. [16] Length32 of days [is] in her right hand33; [and] in her left hand riches and honour. [17] Her ways [are] ways of34 pleasantness, and all35 her paths [are] peace. [18] She [is] a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy [is every one] that retaineth her.36 [19] The Lord37 by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established38 the heavens. [20] By his knowledge the depths39 are broken up, and the clouds40 drop down the dew.

[21] My son, let41 not them depart from thine eyes: keep42 sound wisdom and discretion: [22] So shall they be life43 unto thy soul, and grace44 to thy neck. [23] Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.45 [24] When thou liest46 down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and47 thy sleep shall be sweet. [25] Be48 not afraid of sudden fear, neither49 of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. [26] For the Lord50 shall be thy confidence, and shall keep51 thy foot from being taken.

[27] Withhold52 not good from them to whom it is due53, when it is in the54 power of thine hand to do [it]. [28] Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.55 [29] Devise not evil56 against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

[30] [¶]Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.57

[31] [¶]Envy58 thou not the oppressor59, and choose60 none of his ways. [32] For the froward61 [is] abomination to the Lord: but his62 secret [is] with the righteous.

[33] [¶]The curse63 of the Lord [is] in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth64 the habitation of the just. [34] Surely he scorneth65 the scorners: but he giveth66 grace unto the lowly. [35] The wise67 shall inherit glory: but68 shame shall be the promotion of fools69.
