⥃The Joy of Forgiveness [ Romans 4:1–12 ]
[A Psalm] of David, Maschil.
[1] Blessed2 [is he whose] transgression3 [is] forgiven, [whose] sin [is] covered4. [2] Blessed [is] the man unto whom the Lord5 imputeth not iniquity, and in whose6 spirit [there is] no guile. [3] When7 I kept silence, my bones8 waxed old through my roaring9 all the day long. [4] For day and night thy hand10 was heavy upon me: my moisture11 is turned into the drought of summer. Selah. [5] I acknowledged12 my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have13 I not hid. I said14, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest15 the iniquity16 of my sin. Selah. [6] For this17 shall every one that is godly18 pray19 unto thee in a time20 when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods21 of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. [7] Thou [art] my22 hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass23 me about with songs24 of deliverance. Selah. [8] I will instruct25 thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide26 thee with mine eye. [9] Be ye27 no28t as the horse, [or] as the mule, [which] have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee. [10] Many29 sorrows [shall be] to the wicked: but30 he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about. [11] Be glad31 in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout32 for joy, all [ye that are] upright33 in heart.
