⥃A Call to Repentance [ Jeremiah 3:11–25 † Zechariah 1:1–6 ]

[1] O Israel, return2 unto the Lord thy God; for thou3 hast fallen by thine iniquity. [2] Take with you words, and turn to the Lord: say unto him, Take away4 all iniquity, and receive5 [us] graciously: so will we render the calves6 of our lips.7 [3] Asshur8 shall not save us; we will not9 ride upon horses: neither10 will we say any more to the work of our hands, [Ye are] our gods: for11 in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

⥃A Promise of God’s Blessing

[4] I will heal12 their backsliding, I will love13 them freely: for14 mine anger is turned away from him. [5] I will be as the dew15 unto Israel: he shall16 grow17 as the lily, and cast18 forth his roots as Lebanon. [6] His branches19 shall spread20, and his beauty21 shall be as the olive tree, and his smell22 as Lebanon. [7] They that23 dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive24 [as] the corn, and grow25 as the vine: the scent26 thereof [shall be] as the wine of Lebanon. [8] Ephraim [shall say], What27 have I to do any more with idols? I have28 heard [him], and observed him: I [am29] like a green fir tree. From me30 is thy fruit found. [9] Who [is] wise31, and he shall understand these [things]? prudent, and he shall know them? for32 the ways of the Lord [are] right, and the33 just shall walk in them: but34 the transgressors shall fall therein.
