⥃Why Do You Boast of Evil? [ 1 Samuel 22:6–23 ]
To the chief Musician, Maschil, [A Psalm] of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told2 Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech.
[1] Why boastest3 thou thyself in mischief4, O mighty5 man? the goodness6 of God [endureth] continually. [2] Thy7 tongue deviseth mischiefs; like8 a sharp razor, working9 deceitfully. [3] Thou lovest10 evil more than good; [and] lying11 rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. [4] Thou lovest all devouring12 words, O [thou13] deceitful tongue. [5] God14 shall likewise destroy thee15 for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck16 thee out of [thy] dwelling place, and root17 thee out of the land18 of the living. Selah. [6] The righteous19 also shall see, and fear20, and shall laugh21 at him: [7] Lo22, [this is] the man [that] made23 not God his strength; but trusted24 in the abundance of his riches, [and] strengthened25 himself in his wickedness26. [8] But I [am] like27 a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust28 in the mercy of God for ever and ever. [9] I will praise29 thee for ever, because thou hast done [it]: and I will wait30 on thy name; for [it is31] good before thy saints.
