⥃Praise to the Creator [ Psalms 148:1–14 ]

[1] Rejoice2 in the Lord, O ye righteous3: [for] praise4 is comely for the upright. [2] Praise5 the Lord with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery6 [and] an instrument of ten strings. [3] Sing unto him a new7 song; play8 skilfully with a loud noise. [4] For the word9 of the Lord [is] right; and all his10 works [are done] in truth. [5] He11 loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth12 is full of the goodness13 of the Lord. [6] By the14 word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host15 of them by the breath16 of his mouth. [7] He gathereth17 the waters of the sea together as an heap18: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. [8] Let all the earth19 fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand20 in awe of him. [9] For21 he spake, and it was [done]; he commanded, and it stood22 fast. [10] The Lord23 bringeth24 the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh25 the devices of the people of none effect. [11] The counsel26 of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts27 of his heart to all generations28. [12] Blessed29 [is] the nation whose God [is] the Lord; [and] the people30 [whom] he hath chosen for his own31 inheritance. [13] The Lord looketh32 from heaven; he beholdeth33 all the sons of men. [14] From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.34 [15] He fashioneth35 their hearts alike; he considereth36 all their works. [16] There is no king37 saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty38 man is not delivered by much strength. [17] An horse39 [is] a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver [any] by his great40 strength. [18] Behold, the eye41 of the Lord [is] upon them that fear him, upon them that hope42 in his mercy; [19] To deliver43 their soul from death, and to keep44 them alive in famine. [20] Our soul45 waiteth for the Lord: he [is46] our help and our shield. [21] For47 our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his48 holy name. [22] Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. 49
