⥃The Godly Are No More

To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David.

[1] Help2, Lord; for the godly3 man ceaseth; for the faithful4 fail from among the children of men. [2] They5 speak vanity every one with his neighbour: [with] flattering6 lips [and] with a double heart7 do they speak. [3] The Lord shall cut8 off all flattering lips, [and] the tongue9 that speaketh proud10 things: [4] Who have said, With11 our tongue will we prevail; our lips [are] our own12: who13 [is] lord over us? [5] For the oppression14 of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now15 will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set [him] in safety [from him that] puffeth at16 him. [6] The words17 of the Lord [are] pure words: [as] silver18 tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. [7] Thou shalt19 keep them20, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this21 generation for ever. [8] The wicked22 walk on every side, when23 the vilest men24 are exalted.
