⥃Give Praise, O Servants of the LORD 2 [ Psalms 115:1–18 ]
[1] Praise ye the Lord3. Praise ye the name4 of the Lord; praise [him], O ye servants5 of the Lord. [2] Ye that stand6 in the house of the Lord, in the courts7 of the house of our God, [3] Praise the Lord; for the Lord8 [is] good: sing praises unto his name; for [it is9] pleasant. [4] For the Lord10 hath chosen Jacob unto himself, [and] Israel for his peculiar11 treasure. [5] For I know12 that the Lord [is] great, and [that] our Lord [is] above all gods. [6] Whatsoever13 the Lord pleased, [that] did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas14, and all deep places. [7] He causeth15 the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings16 for the rain; he bringeth17 the wind out of his treasuries. [8] Who smote18 the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast19. [9] [Who] sent tokens20 and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh21, and upon all his servants. [10] Who smote22 great nations, and slew mighty kings; [11] Sihon23 king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the24 kingdoms of Canaan: [12] And gave their25 land [for] an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people. [13] Thy name26, O Lord, [endureth] for ever; [and] thy memorial, O Lord, throughout all generations27. [14] For the Lord28 will judge his people, and he will repent29 himself concerning his servants. [15] The idols30 of the heathen [are] silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. [16] They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they31, but they see not; [17] They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there [any] breath in their mouths. [18] They that32 make them are like unto them: [so is] every one that trusteth in them. [19] Bless the Lord, O house of Israel: bless the Lord, O house of Aaron:33 [20] Bless the Lord, O house of Levi: ye that fear the Lord, bless the Lord. [21] Blessed be the Lord out of Zion34, which dwelleth35 at Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.

am 3000, bc 1004 Bp. Patrick supposes this to be the morning hymn which the precentor called upon the Levites to sing at the opening of the gates of the temple, as the foregoing was sung at the shutting in the evening; but it is more probable that it was composed by Solomon, to be sung at the dedication of the temple. ↩

Dr. Russel informs us that seldom a night passes at Aleppo without much lightning in the north-west, but not attended with thunder; and when it appears in the west or south-western points, it is a sure sign of the approaching rain, which is often followed with thunder.
