⥃Judgment on Israel’s Neighbors [ Jeremiah 12:14–17 ]

[1] The words2 of Amos, who3 was among the herdmen of Tekoa4, which he saw5 concerning Israel in the6 days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in7 the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake8. [2] And he said, The Lord9 will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations10 of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel11 shall wither. [3] Thus saith the Lord; For12 three transgressions of Damascus13, and for four1415, I will not turn away [the punishment] thereof; because16 they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron: [4] But I will17 send a fire into the house of Hazael18, which shall devour the palaces of Ben–hadad19. [5] I will break20 also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven21, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden22: and the people23 of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the Lord.

[6] [¶]Thus saith the Lord; For three24 transgressions of Gaza25, and for four, I will not turn away [the punishment] thereof; because they carried26 away captive the whole captivity, to deliver [them] up to Edom27: [7] But I will28 send a fire29 on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof: [8] And I will cut30 off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn31 mine hand against Ekron: and the32 remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.

[9] [¶]Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Tyrus33, and for four, I will not turn away [the punishment] thereof; because34 they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant35: [10] But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.36

[11] [¶]Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Edom37, and for four, I will not turn away [the punishment] thereof; because38 he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity39, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept40 his wrath for ever: [12] But I will send a fire upon Teman41, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah42.

[13] [¶]Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of the children43 of Ammon, and for44 four, I will not turn away [the punishment] thereof; because45 they have ripped up the women with child46 of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border: [14] But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah47, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting48 in the day of battle, with a49 tempest in the day of the whirlwind: [15] And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the Lord. 50
