⥃O God, Be Not Silent

A Song [or] Psalm of Asaph².

[1] Keep³ not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not⁴ still, O God. [2] For, lo⁵, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate⁶ thee have lifted⁷ up the head. [3] They⁸ have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden⁹ ones. [4] They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from [being] a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.¹⁰ [5] For¹¹ they have consulted together with one consent¹²: they are¹³ confederate against thee: [6] The tabernacles¹⁴ of Edom¹⁵, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes¹⁶; [7] Gebal¹⁷, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; [8] Assur¹⁸ also is joined with them: they have holpen¹⁹ the children²⁰ of Lot. Selah. [9] Do unto them as [unto²¹] the Midianites; as [to] Sisera²², as [to] Jabin, at the brook of Kison²³: [10] [Which] perished at En–dor²⁴: they became [as] dung²⁵ for the earth. [11] Make their nobles like Oreb²⁶, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah²⁷, and as Zalmunna: [12] Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.²⁸ [13] O my²⁹ God, make them like³⁰ a wheel; as the³¹ stubble before the wind. [14] As the fire³² burneth a wood, and as the flame³³ setteth the mountains on fire; [15] So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.³⁴ [16] Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O Lord.³⁵ [17] Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:³⁶ [18] That [men³⁷] may know that thou, whose³⁸ name alone [is] Jehovah, [art] the most³⁹ high over all the earth.
