(KJV) 1 Thessalonians 3¹

⥃Timothy’s Visit

[1] Wherefore when² we could no longer forbear, we thought³ it good to be left at Athens alone; [2] And sent Timotheus⁴, our brother⁵, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish⁶ you, and to comfort you concerning your faith: [3] That no man should be moved⁷ by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are⁸ appointed thereunto. [4] For verily, when we were with you, we told⁹ you before that we should suffer tribulation; even¹⁰ as it came to pass, and ye know. [5] For this cause, when¹¹ I could no longer forbear, I sent¹² to know your faith, lest¹³ by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our¹⁴ labour be in vain.

⥃Timothy’s Encouraging Report

[6] But now when¹⁵ Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought¹⁶ us good tidings of your faith¹⁷ and charity, and that¹⁸ ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring¹⁹ greatly to see us, as we also [to see] you: [7] Therefore, brethren, we were²⁰ comforted over you in all²¹ our affliction and distress by your faith: [8] For now we live²², if²³ ye stand fast in the Lord. [9] For what²⁴ thanks can we render to God again for²⁵ you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before²⁶ our God; [10] Night²⁷ and day praying²⁸ exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect²⁹ that which is lacking in your faith? [11] Now God³⁰ himself and our Father, and our Lord³¹ Jesus Christ, direct³² our way³³ unto you. [12] And the Lord³⁴ make you to increase and abound³⁵ in love³⁶ one toward another, and toward all [men], even³⁷ as we [do] toward you: [13] To the end he may³⁸ stablish your hearts unblameable³⁹ in holiness before⁴⁰ God, even our Father, at the⁴¹ coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with⁴² all his saints.
