⥃Ministers of a New Covenant
[1] Do we begin2 again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some [others], epistles3 of commendation to you, or [letters] of commendation from you? [2] Ye are4 our epistle written in5 our hearts, known6 and read of all men: [3] [Forasmuch as ye are] manifestly declared to be the epistle7 of Christ ministered8 by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living9 God; not10 in tables of stone, but11 in fleshy tables of the heart. [4] And such12 trust have we through Christ to God-ward13: [5] Not that14 we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but15 our sufficiency [is] of God; [6] Who also hath16 made us able ministers of the new17 testament; not18 of the letter, but of the spirit: for19 the letter killeth, but the20 spirit giveth life21.
⥃The Glory of the New Covenant [ Exodus 34:10–35 ]
[7] But if the ministration22 of death, written23 [and] engraven in stones, was24 glorious, so that25 the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which26 [glory] was to be done away: [8] How shall not the ministration27 of the spirit be rather glorious? [9] For if the ministration of condemnation28 [be] glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness29 exceed30 in glory. [10] For even that which was made glorious had31 no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. [11] For if32 that which is done away [was] glorious, much33 more that which remaineth [is] glorious. [12] Seeing then that we have such hope, we use34 great plainness35 of speech: [13] And not as Moses, [which36] put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not37 stedfastly look to the38 end of that which is abolished: [14] But their39 minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which [vail40] is done away in Christ. [15] But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail41 is upon their heart. [16] Nevertheless when42 it shall turn to the Lord, the vail43 shall be taken away. [17] Now the Lord44 is that Spirit: and where45 the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty. [18] But we all, with46 open face beholding as in47 a glass the glory48 of the Lord, are49 changed into the same image from50 glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord51.

2Cor 3:1, Lest their false teachers should charge him with vain glory, he shews the faith and graces of the Corinthians to be a sufficient commendation of his ministry; 2Cor 3:6, Whereupon entering a comparison between the ministers of the law and of the gospel, 2Cor 3:12. he proves that his ministry is so far the more excellent, as the gospel of life and liberty is more glorious than the law of condemnation. ↩
