(KJV) Hosea 11¹

⥃Out of Egypt I Called My Son ^{[ Matthew 2:13–15 ]}

[1] When Israel² [was] a child, then I loved him, and called³ my son out of Egypt. [2] [As] they called⁴ them, so they went from them: they sacrificed⁵ unto Baalim, and burned⁶ incense to graven images. [3] I taught⁷ Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed⁸ them. [4] I drew⁹ them with cords of a¹⁰ man, with bands of love: and I was¹¹ to them as they that take off¹² the yoke on their jaws, and I laid¹³ meat unto them.

[5] [¶]He shall not¹⁴ return into the land of Egypt, but¹⁵ the Assyrian shall be his king, because¹⁶ they refused to return. [6] And the sword¹⁷ shall abide on his cities, and shall consume¹⁸ his branches, and devour [them], because¹⁹ of their own counsels. [7] And my people are bent²⁰ to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt [him²¹].

⥃God’s Love for Israel

[8] How shall I give²² thee up, Ephraim? [how] shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah²³? [how] shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine²⁴ heart²⁵ is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together. [9] I will not execute²⁶ the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return²⁷ to destroy Ephraim: for²⁸ I [am] God, and not man; the Holy One²⁹ in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city. [10] They shall walk³⁰ after the Lord: he shall roar like³¹ a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble³² from the west³³. [11] They shall tremble as a bird out³⁴ of Egypt, and as a dove³⁵ out of the land of Assyria: and I³⁶ will place them in their houses, saith the Lord. [12] Ephraim compasseth³⁷ me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah³⁸ yet ruleth³⁹ with God, and is faithful with the saints⁴⁰.
