(KJV) Job 37¹

⥃Elihu Proclaims God’s Majesty

[1] At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place.² [2] Hear attentively³ the noise⁴ of his voice, and the sound [that] goeth out of his mouth. [3] He⁵ directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning⁶ unto the ends⁷ of the earth. [4] After it a voice⁸ roareth: he thundereth with the voice⁹ of his excellency; and he will¹⁰ not stay them when his voice is heard. [5] God thundereth¹¹ marvellously with his voice; great¹² things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. [6] For he¹³ saith to the snow, Be thou [on] the earth; likewise to the small¹⁴ rain, and to the great¹⁵ rain of his strength. [7] He¹⁶ sealeth up the hand of every man; that¹⁷ all men may know his work. [8] Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places.¹⁸ [9] Out of the south¹⁹ cometh the whirlwind²⁰: and cold out of the north²¹. [10] By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened.²² [11] Also by watering he wearieth²³ the thick cloud: he scattereth²⁴ his bright cloud²⁵: [12] And it²⁶ is turned round about by his counsels: that²⁷ they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth. [13] He causeth it to come, whether²⁸ for correction²⁹, or for his³⁰ land, or for mercy³¹. [14] Hearken unto this, O Job: stand³² still, and consider³³ the wondrous works of God. [15] Dost³⁴ thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light³⁵ of his cloud to shine? [16] Dost thou know the balancings³⁶ of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect³⁷ in knowledge? [17] How thy garments [are] warm, whe³⁸n he quieteth the earth by the south [wind]? [18] Hast thou with him spread³⁹ out the sky, [which is] strong, [and] as⁴⁰ a molten looking glass? [19] Teach⁴¹ us what we⁴² shall say unto him; [for] we cannot order [our speech] by reason of darkness. [20] Shall it⁴³ be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely⁴⁴ he shall be swallowed up. [21] And now [men] see not the bright light which [is] in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.⁴⁵ [22] Fair⁴⁶ weather cometh out of the north: with⁴⁷ God [is] terrible majesty. [23] [Touching] the Almighty, we⁴⁸ cannot find him out: [he is] excellent⁴⁹ in power, and in judgment⁵⁰, and in plenty of justice: he will⁵¹ not afflict. [24] Men do therefore fear⁵² him: he⁵³ respecteth not any [that are] wise of heart.
