in Trag., etc., with irregular plural σταθμά, [Refs 5th c.BC+]; σταθμοί however occurs not only in [Refs 8th c.BC+]:— standing-place for animals, farmstead, steading, τὼ μὲν (the lions) ἄρ᾽, ἁρπάζοντε βόας καὶ ἴφια μῆλα, σταθμοὺς ἀνθρώπων κεραΐζετον [Refs 8th c.BC+]; sometimes including the human dwelling, [Refs 8th c.BC+]; of a swineherd's steading,[Refs]; of a sheepstation, [Refs 8th c.BC+]; of the stable of the griffin of Oceanus, [Refs 4th c.BC+]; of a deer's lair, [Refs 4th c.BC+]
