Isaiah's father living at the time of Divided Monarchy

Amoz, the father of the prophet Isaiah.

Amoz was the father of the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 1:1; 2:1). He lived during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah (Isaiah 1:1). Isaiah often mentions his father's name when introducing himself or his prophecies (Isaiah 2:1; 13:1; 20:2). Amoz was also mentioned in connection with the historical records of Uzziah's reign (2 Chronicles 26:22) and Hezekiah's reign (2 Chronicles 32:32). His name appears in the narrative of Hezekiah's illness and recovery, as Isaiah, the son of Amoz, was sent to deliver messages from God to the king (2 Kings 19:2,20; 20:1; Isaiah 37:2,21; 38:1).
