⥃In My Distress I Cried to the LORD

A Song of degrees.

[1] In my distress2 I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me. [2] Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips3, [and] from a deceitful tongue. [3] What shall4 be given unto thee? or what shall be done5 unto thee, thou false tongue? [4] Sharp6 arrows7 of the mighty, with coals of juniper. [5] Woe8 is me, that I sojourn in Mesech9, [that] I dwell in the tents10 of Kedar! [6] My soul11 hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace. [7] I [am for] peace12: but when13 I speak, they [are] for war.
