1. prop., of the ruling faculty, mind, understanding, reason (v. Lft., Notes, 88 f.; Vaughan on Ro 7:23): Lk 24:45, Ro 1:28 7:23 12:2 14:5, Eph 4:17, 23, Phl 4:7, II Th 2:2, I Ti 6:5, II Ti 3:8, Tit 1:15, Re 13:18 17:9; ν. τ. σαρκός (ICC, in l.), Col 2:18; opp. to σάρξ, Ro 7:25; to πνεῦμα, I Co 14:14, 15; to γλῶσσα, I Co 14:19.

Attic dialect contraction νοῦς, genitive νοῦ: [Refs 8th c.BC+] uses the contraction form once, in nominative, [Refs 8th c.BC+]: Trag. use contraction form, except in [Refs 5th c.BC+]: Aeolic dialect genitive νῶ [Refs 7th c.BC+]: irregular forms are found in “NT” and later writers, genitive νοός [LXX+NT+1st c.AD+], is rare in early writers, as [Refs 5th c.BC+]
