(KJV) Zechariah 11¹

⥃The Doomed Flock

[1] Open thy doors, O Lebanon², that³ the fire may devour thy cedars. [2] Howl⁴, fir tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the mighty⁵ are spoiled: howl, O ye oaks of Bashan; for⁶ the forest of the vintage⁷ is come down.

[3] [¶][There is] a voice⁸ of the howling of the shepherds; for their⁹ glory is spoiled: a voice¹⁰ of the roaring of young lions; for the pride¹¹ of Jordan is spoiled. [4] Thus saith the Lord¹² my God; Feed¹³ the flock of the slaughter; [5] Whose possessors¹⁴ slay them, and hold¹⁵ themselves not guilty: and they that sell¹⁶ them say, Blessed¹⁷ [be] the Lord; for I am rich: and their¹⁸ own shepherds pity them not. [6] For I will no¹⁹ more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the Lord: but, lo, I will deliver²⁰ the men every one into his neighbour’s hand, and into the²¹ hand of his king: and they shall²² smite the land, and out²³ of their hand I will not deliver [them]. [7] And I will²⁴ feed the flock of slaughter, [even] you, O poor²⁵ of the flock. And I took unto me two staves²⁶; the one²⁷ I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands²⁸; and I fed the flock. [8] Three shepherds also I cut off in²⁹ one month; and my³⁰ soul lothed them³¹, and their soul also abhorred me. [9] Then said I, I will³² not feed you: that that dieth³³, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let³⁴ the rest eat every one the flesh of another³⁵.

⥃Thirty Pieces of Silver ^{[ Matthew 27:3–10 ]}

[10] [¶]And I took my staff, [even] Beauty³⁶, and cut it asunder, that³⁷ I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people. [11] And it was broken in that day: and so³⁸ the poor of the flock that waited³⁹ upon me knew⁴⁰ that it [was] the word of the Lord. [12] And I said unto them, If ye think good⁴¹, give⁴² [me] my price; and if not, forbear. So⁴³ they weighed for my price thirty [pieces] of silver. [13] And the Lord said unto me, Cast⁴⁴ it unto the potter: a goodly⁴⁵ price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty [pieces] of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord. [14] Then I cut⁴⁶ asunder mine other staff, [even] Bands⁴⁷, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

[15] And the Lord said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish⁴⁸ shepherd. [16] For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, [which⁴⁹] shall not visit those that be cut off⁵⁰, neither⁵¹ shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed⁵² that that standeth still: but⁵³ he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces. [17] Woe⁵⁴ to the idol⁵⁵ shepherd that leaveth⁵⁶ the flock! the sword⁵⁷ [shall be] upon his arm⁵⁸, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.
