prop., the bait-stick of a trap, a snare, stumbling-block (Le 19:14, Jth 5:1): fig., Ro 9:33, I Pe 2:8 (Is 8:14; aliter in LXX; στερεὸν σκανδάλου in Aq.). Metaph., of that which causes error or sin;
