Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

Woe to the world for the causes of sin. These stumbling blocks must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!

Οὐαὶ τῷ κόσμῳ ἀπὸ τῶν σκανδάλων· ἀνάγκη γὰρ ἐστιν ἐλθεῖν τὰ σκάνδαλα, πλὴν οὐαὶ τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐκείνῳ δι᾽ οὗ τὸ σκάνδαλον ἔρχεται.
