Eshcol was an Amorite, an ally of Abram, and the valley of Eshcol was named after him.

Eshcol was an Amorite and one of the three allies of Abram (later called Abraham) mentioned in Genesis 14:13,24. He, along with Mamre and Aner, joined forces with Abram to rescue his nephew Lot, who had been taken captive by King Chedorlaomer and his allies (Genesis 14:14-16). The valley of Eshcol, known for its abundant grape clusters, was named after him (Numbers 13:23-24). This valley was later part of the land allocated to the tribe of Judah (Numbers 13:23; 32:9).
