And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

“Amos, what do you see?” asked the LORD. “A plumb line,” I replied. “Behold,” said the Lord, “I am setting a plumb line among My people Israel; I will no longer spare them:

וַ יֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י מָֽה ־ אַתָּ֤ה רֹאֶה֙ עָמ֔וֹס וָ אֹמַ֖ר אֲנָ֑ךְ וַ יֹּ֣אמֶר אֲדֹנָ֗י הִנְ נִ֨י שָׂ֤ם אֲנָךְ֙ בְּ קֶ֙רֶב֙ עַמִּ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹֽא ־ אוֹסִ֥יף ע֖וֹד עֲב֥וֹר לֽ וֹ ׃
