When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;

Now Esau learned that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him to Paddan-aram to take a wife there, commanding him, “Do not marry a Canaanite woman,”

וַ יַּ֣רְא עֵשָׂ֗ו כִּֽי ־ בֵרַ֣ךְ יִצְחָק֮ אֶֽת ־ יַעֲקֹב֒ וְ שִׁלַּ֤ח אֹת וֹ֙ פַּדֶּ֣נָֽ ה אֲרָ֔ם לָ קַֽחַת ־ ל֥וֹ מִ שָּׁ֖ם אִשָּׁ֑ה בְּ בָרֲכ֣וֹ אֹת֔וֹ וַ יְצַ֤ו עָלָי ו֙ לֵ אמֹ֔ר לֹֽא ־ תִקַּ֥ח אִשָּׁ֖ה מִ בְּנ֥וֹת כְּנָֽעַן ׃
