Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.

“Do not be afraid, Daniel,” he said, “for from the first day that you purposed to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.

וַ יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ י֮ אַל ־ תִּירָ֣א דָנִיֵּאל֒ כִּ֣י ׀ מִן ־ הַ יּ֣וֹם הָ רִאשׁ֗וֹן אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֧תָּ אֶֽת ־ לִבְּ ךָ֛ לְ הָבִ֧ין וּ לְ הִתְעַנּ֛וֹת לִ פְנֵ֥י אֱלֹהֶ֖י ךָ נִשְׁמְע֣וּ דְבָרֶ֑י ךָ וַ אֲנִי ־ בָ֖אתִי בִּ דְבָרֶֽי ךָ ׃
