Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:

Now then, you are to tell My servant David that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the flock, to be the ruler over My people Israel.

וְ֠עַתָּה כֹּֽה ־ תֹאמַ֞ר לְ עַבְדִּ֣י לְ דָוִ֗ד כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת אֲנִ֤י לְקַחְתִּ֙י ךָ֙ מִן ־ הַ נָּוֶ֔ה מֵ אַחַ֖ר הַ צֹּ֑אן לִֽ הְי֣וֹת נָגִ֔יד עַל ־ עַמִּ֖י עַל ־ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
