Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee.

For they did not meet you with food and water on your way out of Egypt, and they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram-naharaim to curse you.

עַל ־ דְּבַ֞ר אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹא ־ קִדְּמ֤וּ אֶתְ כֶם֙ בַּ לֶּ֣חֶם וּ בַ מַּ֔יִם בַּ דֶּ֖רֶךְ בְּ צֵאתְ כֶ֣ם מִ מִּצְרָ֑יִם וַ אֲשֶׁר֩ שָׂכַ֨ר עָלֶ֜י ךָ אֶת ־ בִּלְעָ֣ם בֶּן ־ בְּע֗וֹר מִ פְּת֛וֹר אֲרַ֥ם נַהֲרַ֖יִם לְ קַֽלְלֶֽ ךָּ ׃
