And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.

Laban replied, “It is not our custom here to give the younger daughter in marriage before the older.

וַ יֹּ֣אמֶר לָבָ֔ן לֹא ־ יֵעָשֶׂ֥ה כֵ֖ן בִּ מְקוֹמֵ֑נוּ לָ תֵ֥ת הַ צְּעִירָ֖ה לִ פְנֵ֥י הַ בְּכִירָֽה ׃
