And David numbered the people that [were] with him, and set captains of thousands and captains of hundreds over them.

Then David reviewed his troops and appointed over them commanders of thousands and of hundreds.

וַ יִּפְקֹ֣ד דָּוִ֔ד אֶת ־ הָ עָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֑וֹ וַ יָּ֣שֶׂם עֲלֵי הֶ֔ם שָׂרֵ֥י אֲלָפִ֖ים וְ שָׂרֵ֥י מֵאֽוֹת ׃
