And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling [was] in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

And David took his staff in his hand, selected five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag. And with his sling in hand, he approached the Philistine.

וַ יִּקַּ֨ח מַקְל֜וֹ בְּ יָד֗וֹ וַ יִּבְחַר ־ ל֣וֹ חֲמִשָּׁ֣ה חַלֻּקֵֽי ־ אֲבָנִ֣ים ׀ מִן ־ הַ נַּ֡חַל וַ יָּ֣שֶׂם אֹ֠תָ ם בִּ כְלִ֨י הָ רֹעִ֧ים אֲשֶׁר ־ ל֛וֹ וּ בַ יַּלְק֖וּט וְ קַלְּע֣וֹ בְ יָד֑וֹ וַ יִּגַּ֖שׁ אֶל ־ הַ פְּלִשְׁתִּֽי ׃
