And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves.

So the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD; they forgot the LORD their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs.

וַ יַּעֲשׂ֨וּ בְנֵי ־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל אֶת ־ הָ רַע֙ בְּ עֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה וַֽ יִּשְׁכְּח֖וּ אֶת ־ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹֽהֵי הֶ֑ם וַ יַּעַבְד֥וּ אֶת ־ הַ בְּעָלִ֖ים וְ אֶת ־ הָ אֲשֵׁרֽוֹת ׃
