And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

As they had requested, he released the one imprisoned for insurrection and murder, and he handed Jesus over to their will.

ἀπέλυσεν δὲ αὐτοῖς τὸν διὰ στάσιν καὶ φόνον βεβλημένον εἰς τὴν φυλακὴν ὃν ᾐτοῦντο· τὸν δὲ Ἰησοῦν παρέδωκεν τῷ θελήματι αὐτῶν.¶
