So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?

Haman entered, and the king asked him, “What should be done for the man whom the king is delighted to honor?” Now Haman thought to himself, “Whom would the king be delighted to honor more than me?”

וַ יָּבוֹא֮ הָמָן֒ וַ יֹּ֤אמֶר ל וֹ֙ הַ מֶּ֔לֶךְ מַה ־ לַ עֲשׂ֕וֹת בָּ אִ֕ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הַ מֶּ֖לֶךְ חָפֵ֣ץ בִּ יקָר֑וֹ וַ יֹּ֤אמֶר הָמָן֙ בְּ לִבּ֔וֹ לְ מִ֞י יַחְפֹּ֥ץ הַ מֶּ֛לֶךְ לַ עֲשׂ֥וֹת יְקָ֖ר יוֹתֵ֥ר מִמֶּֽ נִּי ׃
