And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.

“Where have you come from?” David asked. “I have escaped from the Israelite camp,” he replied.

וַ יֹּ֤אמֶר ל וֹ֙ דָּוִ֔ד אֵ֥י מִ זֶּ֖ה תָּב֑וֹא וַ יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔י ו מִ מַּחֲנֵ֥ה יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל נִמְלָֽטְתִּי ׃
