And Reuben heard [it], and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.
_BSB:
When Reuben heard this, he tried to rescue Joseph from their hands. “Let us not take his life,” he said.

וַ יִּשְׁמַ֣ע רְאוּבֵ֔ן וַ יַּצִּלֵ֖הוּ מִ יָּדָ֑ם וַ יֹּ֕אמֶר לֹ֥א נַכֶּ֖נּוּ נָֽפֶשׁ ׃
