And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

Remember that you were slaves in the land of Egypt. Therefore I am commanding you to do this.

וְ זָ֣כַרְתָּ֔ כִּי ־ עֶ֥בֶד הָיִ֖יתָ בְּ אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם עַל ־ כֵּ֞ן אָנֹכִ֤י מְצַוְּ ךָ֙ לַ עֲשׂ֔וֹת אֶת ־ הַ דָּבָ֖ר הַ זֶּֽה ׃ ס
