__II sewer, drain, στενὴν δ᾽ ἔδυμεν ψαλίδα [Refs 5th c.BC+]; vault, crypt, ψαλίδαπρομήκη λίθων ποτίμων [Refs 5th c.BC+]; barrel-vault, [Refs 3rd c.BC+] “*Stereom.” 2.28; ἀνήγειρεν τὴνψ. ταύτην [Refs 2nd c.AD+] compares the fornix (ψαλιδοειδές) of the brain to a ψ. οἰκοδομήματος σφαιροειδοῦς, 2.725; similarly the arch of the foot, [Refs]; having keystones (ὀμφαλοί), [Refs 4th c.BC+]; and being curved (καμφθεῖσα), [Refs 1st c.BC+]; explained by καμάρα and ἁψίς, [Refs 5th c.BC+]; as entrance and exit of a theatre, [Refs] (Aphrodisias, written ψελίς).
__III αἱ ψ. τῶν στύλων probably the rounded mouldings between the capital and the column, [LXX]; so perhaps ψαλλίδες in [Refs 2nd c.AD+]
